FIESTA-IoT achieves semantic interoperability between FIWARE and OneM2M

Category : News

Between December 9th and 11th 2015, FIESTA participated in an ETSI M2M workshop in Sophia Antipolis. Here, FIESTA partners (from Easy Global Market, NEC, and KETI) presented a semantic interoperability demo between technologies conforming to the FIWARE open standards and technologies conforming to the OneM2M standards. The ability to achieve semantic interoperability at the data level between diverse standards is an important step in addressing the interoperability problem in the IoT domain.

The feedback from the public was particularly satisfactory and provided motivation to carry the work forward.  The FIESTA team succeed in the first implementation of a semantic resource in a OneM2M solution. This new approach will brings new paradigms for FIWARE, and provides more ways to use these solutions to foster a full-scale IoT development for smart cities (where heterogeneity is a problem).

The focuss on data-semantic interoperability can also be seen as a significant advance coming from activities carried out within the FIESTA project.
