FIESTA-IoT Hackathon: Experimentation-As-A-Service for Big IoT Testbed Data

March 19-20, Berlin & Sophia Antipolis

FIESTA-IoT is hosting a co-located hackathon at events in both Berlin, Germany and Sophia Antipolis, France. Teams participating in parallel at either location are eligible for the same prizes. Please see below for further information about how you can participate at either location.

The Challenge

The hackathon itself is targetting the use of semantically interoperable data made available from multiple real-world testbeds. We are looking for developers and teams to develop data mashup schemes based on use cases to cross reference different datasets from a range of IoT testbeds that produce data concerning smart cities, smart buildings, environment, maritime, wireless networks, data centers, etc. and apply statistical analysis, visualization, and machine learning tools to statistically analyze and develop predictive models for the design and deployment of advanced (experimental) applications, notably applications that will leverage data and resources from multiple administratively and geographically dispersed IoT testbeds.

Think outside the box and come up with innovative ideas that bring more value out of the data, or choose one or more of the following to:

  • Identify relationships between different Resources or trends within Resources using Inquisitive analytics.
  • Assess Resource/Testbed performance and data governance aspects using descriptive analytics techniques
  • Forecast and statistically model Resources and their observations to determine the future states using predictive analytics
  • Infer how datasets that could be providing redundant data, be optimized using prescriptive analytics techniques.

Datasets are accessible through APIs or the portal, with links to API/portal docs. Available datasets can be found at http://fiesta-iot.eu/index.php/fiesta-testbeds.

Prizes will be awarded to the best solutions as decided by the Hackathon evaluation committee.

FIESTA-IoT invites you to “Semantic Interoperability of your Data” Event

EVENT INVITATION: Semantic Interoperability of your Data

Friday 16 March, SICTIAM

Sophia Antipolis, France

  • You generate data from sensors in small or large volume, and you would like to showcase their potential of interoperability with other datasets ?*
  • Or you simply want to better understand what is the semantic interoperability of data?*

THIS EVENT IS FOR YOU !

FIESTA-IoT provides a semantically federated platform for the data from the Internet of Things. A unified semantic data model, built from the ontologies for sensors and their observations, the services specific to the Internet of Things and their spatiotemporal context is used. Based on the international standards in development, the data model proposes a taxonomy for the sensors, the measured quantity and the related units, which evolves as the requests of the data providers. The correctness and integrity of the semantic data is guaranteed by a validation process on the resources and their observations which allows to certify the data providers.

To be able to be registered on the platform, a data provider needs to submit a description of the resources conform to the FIESTA-IoT ontology, and then push their semantically annotated data. After validation, the resources are stored in the semantic data base called “IoT registry” which can be queried by the SPARQL queries to provide the result that come from different federated datasets.
